Kharkiv epidemiologists called Russia's statement about work on biological weapons fake. This was reported in the regional laboratory center.
Recall that recently at briefings for the media, the Russian military said that Ukraine allegedly cooperates with American scientists in the development of biological weapons.
Kharkiv specialists said that in the Kharkiv region, work on the study of the circulation of pathogens of especially dangerous infections, such as tularemia, leptospirosis, hemorrhagic viral fevers, cholera, etc., was stopped for more than 70 years.
At the same time, only strains of museum cultures are stored in the laboratories of the system of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, which are not pathogenic for humans and are necessary for the identification of isolated pathogens. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine conduct only a study of the circulation of pathogens of especially dangerous infections in the natural foci of these infections.
"Cultures of pathogens isolated during research, in accordance with regulatory documents on biosafety, are subject to mandatory destruction with the preparation of appropriate protocols. This fact was used by the Russian military to create gossip about alleged attempts to destroy highly pathogenic cultures that were used to develop biological weapons," they said at the laboratory center.
According to scientists, false statements by the Russian military may indicate the intention of Russia to use biological weapons against the people of Ukraine, or as a reason for further escalation of hostilities.
