Two Kharkiv taekwondo athletes received licenses to participate in the Summer Olympics. As was reported on February 7 at the press center of the News Agency "STATUS QUO" by Taekwondo Federation President of Ukraine Lesik Samandzhiya, athletes Marina Koneva and Gregoriy Gusarov won Olympic licenses in the European qualifying tournament for the Olympics in 2012, which was held from 27 to 29 January in Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia).
"Unfortunately, we have not got to the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, so this time we made every effort. Our goal was to win two licenses, and we got it", said L.Samandzhiya. According to him, the competition was attended by 39 countries, and licenses were received only by athletes who have taken prize-winning places. In the tournament G. Gusarov took third place (weight 65 kg), and M.Koneva took first place (weight 67 kg).
