Kharkiv Aviation Institute students will get second major in Germany

National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" (KhAI) started a program of joint education with the University Otto-von-Gierek (Magdeburg, Germany). It was reported "SQ" on January 13 by associate professor of technology aircraft department of the University Yuri Vorobyov. According to him, the cooperation of universities in various fields has been going on for 10 years, and in the fall of 2011 it was signed inter-faculty contract, which launched the project of co-education to the level of Bachelor in "Logistics". Minimum period of studying under the program is two - four semesters. Groups of foreign students may not exceed 15 people for each university.
According to Yu Vorobyov, now a group of third-year students pass selection to go to Germany in the spring. The main problem was the language barrier. In Ukraine, for a long time pupils in schools do not learn German. "It is absolutely certain that the language selection will be passed by two students but other students wishing to study in German university may be not accepted by independent KhAI committee. In order to optimize language learning at the university special courses were opened. There are no persons interested to come Kharkiv from Germany yet", said Yuri Vorobyov.
According to Associate Professor, studying at the Otto-von- Gierek is free, but accommodation, insurance and other expenses are paid by the students themselves. Studying logistics in Germany, students will study in the KhAI at the same time. Education will be remote with organized special classes. In the spring of 2013 the first group will return to Kharkiv and will continue studying at KhAI. By the end of the 4th year students will have two degrees that are German in logistics and Ukrainian, for example, in the engines of aircraft.
"SQ" Reference. The University has 7 faculties that are aircraft, aircraft engines, control systems, aircraft, rocket and space technology, radar systems, aircraft, Economics and Management, Humanities. Studying is carried out on 53 majors. There are over 7,000 students and 160 graduate students, 700 professors in KhAI. KhAI is a co-executor of international space program "Alpha", as well as research projects with companies from Germany, China, Mexico, Netherlands, USA and Japan. Inventions of University scientists are patented in more than 20 countries worldwide.
