Electronic database of all foreign students will be created in Kharkiv

It is necessary to create a unified information database of foreign students studying in Kharkiv, as a number of people that come to Ukraine for studying is more that can be taken to universities and they remain in the country as illegal immigrants. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Chief of Staff Vasiliy Homa, the website of the Administration reported.

According to the vice-governor, 14 thousand 200 foreign students from 101 countries are studying in Kharkiv. 48 educational institutions have licenses for training of such students. "Due to such a database a foreigner who came to study in Ukraine can be accompanied, starting with the checkpoint state control", he stressed.

V. Homa reported that an invitation to study for foreigners may be provided by universities that have a license, as well as the relevant department of the Ministry of Education. "So often it is issued more invitations for studying than quota allocated for colleges. Students come, do not enroll in college, but remain in Kharkiv. They work in the market "Barabashovo" and elsewhere, and then become illegal immigrants", said the vice-governor.

According to him, the creation of such a database is essential in order to streamline the process of working with foreign students. This database would be used in the work of the Main Department of Education and Science of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, border guards and police. Vice-governor said that the Chief of Education and Science Regional Department Roman Shapoval was asked to submit proposals to create a unified information base.
